Wersja polska

The Łaźnia Nowa Theatre

April 17th, 2013 – 4.00 anf 9.00 p.m. | The Współczesny Theatre

Formally, apostasy does not change anything, it has no real impact on one’s life, thus people do it entirely for themselves – for some reason. I try to analyze what pushes them to do it, and I base on all available materials, including reports, conversations, interviews and testimonies, which are published on very large scale on the Internet, among others, on webpage apostazja.pl. The subject has been discussed publicly just recently and people feel the need to speak about it openly. That is why I came to the conclusion that it is worthwhile to produce a performance about this phenomenon. I hope that thanks to it we will explore the condition of modern society, and find out who we are, what are the mechanisms of functioning of the rebellion against the Church, and what makes the number of apostates in Poland increase. Is it just the echo of Western culture, where manifestation of atheism intensified in the 1960s, or, perhaps, this phenomenon is very strongly rooted in local culture, being a natural consequence of social changes.
