Scrutiny Commission the 48th Small Theatre Festival KONTRAPUNKT 2013 consisting of:

after opening of ballot boxes and calculating the ballot papers stated that total 147 votes (including 2 invalid votes) were given for 11 of 12 performances participating in the contest. Particular performances gained the following number of votes:

“Sklaven. Einakter von Georges Courteline aus der Hölle der bürgerlichen Freiheit” / “SLAVES. One-acter out of bourgois freedom’s hell by Georges Courteline” – 2

“Mała narracja” / “Small Narrative” – 11
“Cheval” / “A Horse” – 11
“Kaligula” / “Caligula” – 14
“Truskawkowa niedziela” / “Strawberry Sunday” – 19
“Nancy. Wywiad” / “Nancy Interview” – 24
“Paw królowej” / “The Queen’s Peacock” – 25

GRAND PRIX, which is THE GREAT AWARD OF THE AUDIENCE in the amount of 10,000 PLN and a statuette funded by the Mayor of the City of Szczecin, shall be is granted to the performance “The Table” created by the Blind Summit Theatre, which received 26 votes.

The Jury composed of: Per Ananiassen (President), Thomas Irmer, Małgorzata Sikorska-Miszczuk, Michał Walczak, Maryla Zielińska after watching 12 performances taking part in the contest, decided unanimously to grant:

The Award founded by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage in the amount of 10,000 PLN for the best performance – to the authors of the performance “Amatorki” (Amateurs) by Elfriede Jelinek from the Teatr Wybrzeże in Gdańsk – directed by Ewelina Marciniak – for a performance by a young team treating social issues in an exceptional way.

The Magnolia Award – Award of the City of Szczecin in the amount of 8,000 PLN for the authors and performers of “Paw Królowej” (The Queen’s Peacock) by Dorota Masłowska, directed by Paweł Świątek, from the Helena Modjeska National Old Theatre in Krakow – for a creativity of scenic adaptation of Dorota Masłowska’s novel.

The Award of the Marshal of Zachodniopomorskie Voivodship in the amount of 5,000 PLN for Wojtek Ziemilski, the author and performer of “Mała narracja” (Small Narrative) – for the new formula of documentary theatre.

The Zygmunt Duczyński Award for the Most Outstanding Artistic Personality of the Festival in the amount of 3,500 PLN – for Magdalena Popławska, for outstanding performance as Nancy Spungen.

The Kazimierz Krzanowski Promotional Award in the amount of 3,000 PLN – for authors and performers of “The Table” for innovative way of combing Bunraku puppetry with British stand-up comedy.

Two Jury Awards – 2,500 PLN each:

  1. For the performance “Notizen aus der Küche” (Notes from the Kitchen) from Schaubühne am Lehniner Platz for surprising performance combining philosophical and culinary issues.
  2. For the performance “Spirit” by Campo form Belgium for brave combination of various performative genres.

And four Honorable Mentions – 1,500 PLN each:

  1. For the production of the performance “Cheval” (A Horse) for new theatrical approach to the phenomenon of music.
  2. For Magda Willi, set and costume designer of “Notizen aus der Küche” (Notes from the Kitchen) for intelligent and creative way to creating space complementing the plot.
  3. For Mark Down, performer and puppeteer form “The Table” for outstanding improvisational skills as the animator and the voice of the puppet (on the table).
  4. For Lucy Wirth, performer from “Notizen aus der Küche” (Notes from the Kitchen) for energetic and humoresque interpretation of the character of a young woman in the kitchen.

The jury of journalists, consisting of Małgorzata Frymus (Polish Radio Szczecin), Katarzyna Stróżyk (Kurier Szczeciński), Tomasz Ostach (Polish TV Szczecin) granted the award of 1,100 PLN “for a explicit, expressive and convincing role of the protagonist” in the play “Caligula” by the Współczesny Theatre in Szczecin to Wojciech Brzeziński.
