The Small Kontrapunkt will come to Szczecin for the fifth time this spring. It will take place between 17 and 19 April 2015. It was created for the youngest abudience and their families. The festival program for children combines artistic and educational elements.
Our ambition is to show a high level of European theatre for children. In recent years we presented the Nordic theaters (thanks to financial support from the Nordisk Kultur Fond) and last three editions focused pm theatre art from the Nordic countries. This time, having in mind development of the project, we decided to invite theatres from the countries of the Visegrad circle. The program will include theatre from Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Hungary.
Two months before the beginning of the Small Kontrapunkt we are going to organize periodic dictionary workshops, during which, together with children, we will work on the unique Polish-Czech-Slovak-Hungarian theatre distionary containing elementary theatrical vocabulary and illustrations made by children. The publication resulted from the workshops will be sent to our partners so they will be able to use it during the workshop.
The theme of this year’s Small Kontrapunkt will be THE STORYTELLING. Language will be treated as a tool of creatinon of new worlds, images, and cultures.
All performances will be presented in their original kanguage versions, so the children will have the opportunity of encounter with a foreign languages. Before each presentation there will be a 15-minute introductory mini-workshop – an introduction to the content of the performance. We want to familiarize children with words which may sound strange and unusual for them.
After the performances the children will have the opportunity to play with the actors. The Small Kontrapunkt programme will also include cross-cultural creative workshops.
The Small Kontrapunkt is one of the branches of the Small Theatre Form Festival KONTRAPUNKT, financed by the City of Szczecin.
